Social care draws a dividing line between the parties. After his party help to pass the new plans for social care for the elderly, David Cameron then made a u-turn in this weeks PM’s questions, which he then criticized the labour’s proposed bill. Putting the PM on the spot demanding an answer on where the funding for this bill would come from, the PM sidestepped the answer until the leader of the opposition ran out of his 5 allocated questions.
After a few weeks of successful PM questions, this week Gordon Brown didn’t quite manage to put Cameron in his place, but in fact leaving many questions unanswered. Though he did point out the Conservatives rejection to the cancer guarantee, in which cancer patients will be able to achieve a viewing with a specialist within a week or sooner which comes as a blow to the claims of DC’s recent posters.
This weeks instalment of PM’s questions really highlight the Conservative Party’s lack of commitment to not only the NHS but its seems any policy. I really can’t see any reason to vote Tory because I have no idea what they would do. Labour party, as bad as they currently are; have given me more reason to vote for them then David Cameron’s Tories, as I have no policies from them on which I can base my judgement.
As a Conservative MP pointed out the state of economy of Greece, it seems this is a euro-sceptic’s wet dream. The state of the PIGS economy (Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain) seems to undermine any support to join the Euro. As a Pro-euro supporter this comes as disappointing news to me. It seems joining the euro may after all prove to be a bit of a bad idea. It does seem that we made the right decision to stay with the GBP as in theory its not our problem how these countries fair. However despite what any right-wing euro-sceptic may say, if we don’t help out the PIGS economy then Europe as a whole will suffer and thus in turn will damage our own economy.
As the Weather takes a chilly turn for the worst across the pond on the east coast, Obama has something to make him a little warm inside in Washington. After a recent opinion poll shows he has an edge on the Republican Party in public support. Obama hasn’t exactly had the best first year at the helm of the Oval office with public support dropping dramatically over his handling of the economy. Although it seems the public still think it was Bush’s presidency that has left the country in its current state, Obama is still feeling the pressure as president.
